Two Teens Arrested in City on Gun Charges
Lancaster city police used a stun gun to subdue a 16-year-old who was carrying a revolver in his waistband, one of two arrests of teens carrying guns early Thursday.
The incidents happened in the 500 block of Poplar Street and at the Hotel Brunswick, 151 N. Queen St.
In the Poplar Street incident, a camera operator with the Lancaster Community Safety Coalition contacted police about 1 a.m. after noticing a teen walking around with a gun in his waistband.
Two police officers went to the block and found two male teenagers, ages 16 and 18. The 16-year-old had the gun, a revolver, police said.
When he refused to comply with officers' directions, an officer used a stun gun to subdue him, police said.
The teen, a Lancaster Township resident, was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unlicensed possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. He also was listed as an "absconder" by the juvenile probation department, police said.
He was committed to the youth detention facility. The 18-year-old was not charged with any crime.
In the Hotel Brunswick incident, police responded to a 1:30 a.m. call from a hotel employee about a party involving juveniles that was taking place in a room.
After smelling marijuana coming from the room, officers entered it and encountered several teens, who were from 15 to 18 years old.
One of them, a 17-year-old city resident, had a 9 mm handgun. He initially gave police a false name.
He was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor and false identification. He was committed to the youth detention facility.
Also in the room was Dante Fletcher, 18, whose last known address was in the 1600 block of Wabank Road. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for terroristic threats.
