Our Results in 2012

Theft:  A City resident reported his pedal trike was stolen. The individual has health issues and this trike is his means of transportation. Later in the day a camera operator spotted someone riding the trike in a different part of the City. Police were alerted and the person fled when they responded. He was stopped nearby and questioned. The trike was returned to the owner. (September 2012)

Parole Violation:  A person wanted by State Parole was spotted by LCSC cameras. He was seen getting into a vehicle and leaving the area.  A camera operator was able to follow him until he was stopped and taken into custody. (September 2012)

Drug Use:  Two people were observed in a city park using illegal drugs.  The camera operator alerted Police who responded to the location. Used needles were recovered from the area and one person was taken into custody on outstanding warrants. (August 2012)

Weapons:  A camera operator spotted a person matching the description of a subject who was to have a gun. The operator alerted Police to his location. He fled from them but was seen by the camera operator ducking behind a house who updated Police with this information. He was found and the weapon was recovered and was taken into custody. (August 2012)

Robbery:  A camera operator spotted a person who matched the description of a robbery suspect. Police were notified of his location and they confirmed he was the wanted subject and took him into custody. (August 2012)

Theft:  Two bikes were stolen from outside a city corner store. A short time later a camera operator observed other people with the bikes in a nearby area.  One of them was seen with a quantity of marijuana as well. Police were notified of their whereabouts.  When Police responded to the area both people fled on the bikes but Police were able to recover both bikes and one of the people who took the bikes. The bikes were then returned to the owners. (August 2012)

Weapons: A call was made to County 911 about someone with a gun.  A camera operator observed a person putting an object into his waistband. Police were alerted to this and his location.  When Police arrived he tried to run as they approached. He was caught a short time later and the weapon was recovered. (July 2012)

Hit and Run: A hit and run accident happened where the car was reported to be headed into the city.  A camera operator spotted a vehicle matching the description and notified Police. Lancaster City Police were able to get the vehicle stopped for the other agency where the accident occurred. (July 2012)

Theft:  A City resident reported seeing someone steal a ladder from outside a home. A camera operator spotted the person with the ladder a short time later and notified Police. The person tried to hide the ladder but Police stopped them and recovered the item.  (July 2012)

Attempted Assault: A woman reported that a man got out of a vehicle and tried to grab and possibly assault her. A review of the cameras in the area showed the vehicle and license plate number.  The video was given to Police who subsequently charged the man for the attempted assault. (July 2012)

Attempted Break-in:  A camera operator noticed two people walking down the street trying to get into several parked cars.  They alerted Police to the problem and the location.  When Police arrived there was a brief foot pursuit before they were taken into custody. (July 2012)

Drug Use: A camera operator observed several people parked in a car at a city park using drugs. Police responded and one person was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. (July 2012)

Weapons: Someone called into County 911 to report people with weapons.  A camera operator spotted the suspected vehicle a short time later and directed Police to the location. The vehicle was stopped and the person was taken into custody for the weapons charge. (May 2012)

Drug Use: A person was seen in a city park using illegal drugs. Police were alerted and responded to the area where they took the person into custody. (May 2012)

Foot Pursuit:  Police called out a foot pursuit in progress, the camera operator on duty found the person that was fleeing.  The person was seen on camera throwing a baggie of marijuana in a storm drain when police were not able to see him.  LCSC alerted Police to the location of the drugs. They stopped the person and recovered the drugs.  They were taken into custody and charges were filed. (May 2012)

Fight:  A call had been made to County 911 of people fighting in the street. A camera operator spotted a vehicle with one of the people who had been fighting inside. Police were alerted to the location and they were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the person. (May 2012)

Alcohol: A camera operator spotted a person in a city park drinking an open container of alcohol. Police responded and the person was found to have outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. (May 2012)

Harassment: A person who had a PFA filed against him was making harassing phone calls. A camera operator spotted the person who was making these calls at a pay phone. Police were alerted to his location where he was arrested for this offense and an outstanding warrant. (April 2012)

Robbery: A person matching the description of a subject who had just robbed a city Turkey Hill was spotted by a camera operator.  Police were alerted and the subject was followed by camera until Police arrived in the area.  The subject tried to hide between vehicles but was pointed out to Police where he was taken into custody. (April 2012)

Drug Use: A camera operator spotted a couple of people involved in drug activity in a public area. Police were alerted to their location and they were stopped. One person was wanted by the State Police on a criminal warrant. He was taken into custody. (April 2012)

Harassment:  The police received a call for someone making threatening phone calls to another individual. The victim had a PFA against the person making the calls. LCSC cameras spotted the suspect while on a pay phone.  LCSC directed police to his location and he was taken into custody for the harassment and for other outstanding warrants. (April 2012)

Trespassing:  Police received a call for someone trespassing in an apartment complex. The person fled out the back of the building when police arrived and a camera operator spotted the person climbing over a fence to the rear of the complex.  LCSC contacted County 911 to advise them of this and the cameras followed him for several blocks until the police caught up with him. He took off and was apprehended after a very short foot pursuit. (March 2012)

Robbery: Two individuals connected to several robberies in the City were seen on a number of cameras, which helped link them to those robberies. One of the individuals in question was positively identified and taken into custody. (January 2012)

Robbery: LCSC cameras followed several individuals connected to the robbery of a student. Two people were apprehended, and a possible identification of the third was made. (January 2012)
